Mac Pro 2019 Beast Machine is enough for Fusion?

PostWed Oct 13, 2021 8:46 pm

hello, this are my tech specs, is that enough for Fusion to work quite fast when doing 3d titles and simple 3d work ?

Mac Pro (2019)
3,2 GHz 16 cores Intel Xeon W
160 GB 2933 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro Vega II 32 GB

Im facing some issues while working that rendering is not so fast and CPU is 5% used and GPU sometimes is 100% and sometimes aroung 30% with a little RAM consumption i have 160 but Fusion is taking approx 20 GB etc?

How to make faster renders and easy workflow to make things faster? Any suggestions how can i correctly configure fusion ?

I really appreciate you help, You! Awesome Guys!

What are you expecting for performance? Without seeing what you're making, it's hard to tell what to expect.

simple titles animation and background particles like animations. when rendering my mac is taking all Graphic Card Memory but CPU and GPU Processor and RAM are not used. I do not Know why ? and with this simple render my computer is being very slow when rendering.

Why would you want more memory and CPU cycles to be used?

To use them is literally the only reason they are in the computer in the firstplace. Less usage makes any sense only if some other desirable property like realtime playback etc is achieved first. Then ofcourse using less to achieve the same is better.
I do stuff.

FUSION is rendering my simple animations 2 frames per second, is that okay ? they are realy simple.

like this:
and 10 minutes animation was approx 2 hours. why ?

Is there any footage being used which is not being generated from within Fusion?

What is disk usage like during the render? If the disk(s) can't keep up this could also be a bottleneck to rendering performance.

SSD Disks all of them. I Use only SSD.

That doesn't tell me anything.

Unfortunately macOS does not include any utility I can find to monitor I/O service times.

There is a utility called ioping which can be installed via Homebrew (information here: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-fre ... th-ioping/) which can be used to measure this.

Check the service time of each disk being used by Fusion during a render; start ioping before starting the render in Fusion and look to see if the service time increases significantly when the render starts. A small increase should be expected, but a significant increase suggests your render performance may be limited by the speed at which the data is being accessed from the disk (SSD will typically be faster than a hard drive but is still subject to at least some of the same performance rules; they are not infinitely fast).

If your data is spread across multiple disks and if there is an I/O bottleneck then determining one which shows high service times may provide a hint as to how to spread things out or where improvements may need to be made.
