Tracking before/after timeline in/out points

Is it possible to get the planar tracker to track parts of a clip that come before or after the in/out points of the clip in the Resolve timeline? I'm trying to remove something from a shot with part of the footage that's beyond the cuts I'm using in the timeline, but I need it to be steadied with the tracker. My current work around is to extend the clip in the timeline and put the other clips on a track above it so the cuts are in the same place. It works fine enough, but I'm curious if there's a better way to do this.

I feel like I did a terrible job explaining that, so here are some images.

Here's my clip in the timeline:

But in the Fusion tab I need data from this part of the clip:

Should I just extend the clip in the timeline like this?

I think you'll need to do as you are doing, and expand the clip on Edit.

It is possible to expand the comp range in Fusion, just by entering whatever numbers you want. And it works.. until you go leave the Fusion page and then return, which instantly resets it back to the Edit clip range.

It might be possible to do some shenanigans with a Frame Render Script that updates the comp range to the desired extended range if Resolve has reset it. But frankly I think it's going to be less hassle and worry in the long run just to do as you are now.
