I need to find the highest (brightest) and the lowest (darkest) pixel in the image, to find out if there are negative values and to see how high the dynamic range goes.
Is there away in Fusion to do that? somewhat an equivalent of the MaxLumaData i8n the curve tool in Nuke.

There isn't a specific one but you can use the CopyAux node, enable Remapping (Color to Color) and press Detect Range

Didn't someone write a plugin called ColorAnalyzer to do just that? :) Am I missing some reason why this plugin isn't what the OP wants?
