4 years of no response re UI scaling on Windows

PostFri Dec 10, 2021 6:10 pm

Dozens of forum posts regarding this issue. 0 reply from Blackmagic.
Fusion UI on 4k monitors on Windows at 100% looks super tiny, absolutely impossible to work with.
At 200% - it's ridiculously huge, impossible to work comfortably.
BM team, please have a native 125% and 150% scaling as options. Changing DPI through compatibility tab in Windows makes the UI look very pixelated and blurry and very uncomfortable to work with.

Just bought a fancy new laptop as I needed the RTX 3090 for volume sims I'm running on a project.

Laptop is great but has a 2560x1440 screeen, so in order to get comfortable size fonts etc I need to set the UI display scaling to 125%. Desktop looks fine at this res, and so does Fusion. But I find if I change any of the range curve control points in the colour corrector fusion 17.4.3 immediately crashes. If I put it to 150% (which is marked "recomended" in windows) no crash, but fusion UI is so big as to be very difficult to use.

Even with the win UI scaling set to 100% (native resolution) tweaking the colour corrector ranges causes an instant crash.

I know this has been previously reported on WeSuckLess a number of times and there has been no reponse from BM for years, but this is now seriously affecting my work flow. So +1000!

it took a while for Foundry to support high dpi in Nuke but they started to about a couple years ago.

BMD's ignorance is really infuriating. Let's keep this thread on top.

Well, I've been waiting so long that my eyesight has deteriorated to the point where I just about need the 200% scaling.

+1 anyway.

Ehm ignorances?
Do you know that is a ONLY USERS forum and not a support forum?
Do you know that there is a specific section of Blackmagic Design website for support, with feature request and bug system to send message directly to Blackmagic Design?

Here often I saw too much rage and hate, but most of people waste time on forum instead to contact directly developers.
I talk about software but also hardware problems, every time I need help I wrote or call Blackmagic Design and they solved my problems in a few times, bug are noted and later solved, hardware problem solved also with fast replacement of tool (ten days during Christmas period) from Italy to uk and back.

Do you think that a small facility like Blackmagic Design had people that can waste their time to be all days on forums, social and more to find people that had problems?

Please calm down and write to appropriate form on website.
Ps fusion is ones of many software that not work fine with high res monitor, for this reason I avoid uhd monitor also for 32 ‘, I had too much software that not scale correctly the UI

I have logged many bugs/issues (including this one) and never been contacted nor have they been rectified. Fusion stand alone does not get the same treatment as Resolve, support is hardly ever present on the forum and bugs are often not fixed. One issue we did get partially fixed (Some of Resolves layouts added to Fusion Standalone) involved a lot of complaints on this forum.

Also, support are often answering issues on the Resolve 'Users' forum. This is a smarter approach as it creates a knowledge base for other users rather than a one off conversation with an individual.

What, you're not satisfied with (checks notes) "General performance and stability improvements" ?

I think most software companies use that one in the case where they accidently fix something.

The cynic in me could be persuaded that many software companies run the equivalent of a medicate for life policy, rather than finding cures, but since Blackmagic haven't charged for updates I hardly think they could be accused of being in that gang.

Everyone involved in software development for BMD charges for updates. BMD just chooses not to pass that on to existing customers.
