Driving values based on pixel numeric values

Hello
I looking for a way to drive Merge or colour node values from pixel values in another source footage.
For instance, imagine a green screen shot of a person comped over a background shot of a fire. I would like the foregound saturation, luminance, etc to change values based on the pixel values of the background shot, essentially adding fame driven flicker to the foreground shot.
Any thoughts are most welcome.
Thank you

The VectorDistortion node could be what you are looking for.

You want to use a probe modifier for that. It can sample values that you can use to drive all the stuff you mentioned.

Thank you for introducing me to this node. It certainly does some interesting stuff. I will have a play with it.

Good morning Sander
Thank you for introducing me to the the probe modifier method. It looks like what I need.
Below is a link that explains it for those that don't know.

The link didn't work, so I guess this might be what you linked to. Something else I need to watch also.
