Without knowing the content of your files it's hard to tell. But the more recent versions of Resolve allow for B/W mattes to be used directly on the timeline. I can't recall the correct order from the top of my head right now, but I think the video has to be for example on track 2 and the matte on track 1. Then you can select the blend mode of the clip on track 2 and select the matte clip op track 1 to mask it out.
There are a couple of tutorials about it on Youtube. Once you know (or remember) how it's easy.
Does it work on the Fusion page, but not in the Edit page?
