How to add Stroke/Text Border to Fusion Title?

PostSat Jan 15, 2022 10:35 am

I'm currently having an issue regarding using a Fusion Title.

I am using the Fusion Title "Clean and Simple Heading Lower Third" and have adjusted the font colour, but I think it would look better with a black border/stroke. However, there is no "Stroke" setting in Inspector, despite this being available in regular Text titles.

From what I found, I have to go to the Fusions page and adjust from there and yet in my attempts to add a simple black border to the text, it just made it unreadable and added a thick white border.

Could someone please provide a solution to this issue please?

Go to shading in the text inspector and select element *2 from the shading, enable it and you can now stroke your text to your heart content and also try various styles and stroke methods.

Thank you so much for the reply. Unfortunately, I've tried this method numerous times and for some reason, even though I've selected black, not only does it show a thick white stroke, but it also removed the box animation on the left side entirely. Am I missing something from below?

They are already using the second element for something that they labelled box, so you would want to add the stroke using element 5. The reason you can't see the stroke is because they added a Background node called Color after the Merge node joining the large and small text together. They are connecting the output of that Merge node to the mask input of the Background node. If you remove that Background node, you should see the stroke.

Regarding the second element, I hadn't used it for anything else prior to posting this topic. It was just the default name prior to enabling it. Using element 5 gives the exact same problem as prior.

Thank you for the suggestion of removing the colour node. However, while the text now finally has the black outline, it seems that some of the text on the left has a thicker outline from the rest of the text;

The thicker outline is due to the BigText Instance node named BOX. You have to go to the shading tab and switch to 5 if that is the element you added the stroke. You then right-click on the Select Element and choose Deinstance. You do the same to the Enabled checkbox, then you uncheck it on the Box node. This should get rid of the extra thickness of the stroke.

You also have to right-click on the Opacity of the element you added the Stroke on, choose Expression, then type Opacity1 so that it fades in and out like the regular text.

I'm sorry, but when I right-click "Select Element," there is no option for "Deinstance."

That is because you have BigText selected, I said to select BOX, then right-click and click deinstance.
