There is bug that causes Fusion to crash when using a Quad menu layout with scopes. It seems that going from displaying RGB information such as a loader, color corrector, etc to a mask will cause it to freeze and crash.

Method to reproduce:
1. start a new comp and load any footage.
2. enable quad menu in one of the viewers and set at least one of the subviews to either vectorscope, histogram or waveform.
3. create a new polygon mask and draw a mask shape
4. set the view with the quad menu to the loader
5. then set the same view to the polygon mask
6. fusion freezes and crashes at this moment.

Nope...
Followed all your steps by interest, and nothing bad happened...

At 4 : three subviews showeb me the loader image, and the last kept on the vectorscope view
5 : the polygon shows up white on black BG (normal behavior) back on one single view
6 : no issue

Hope you'll find your fix, because nothing wrong here......

Hmm, very interesting.
I tried on several machines in the studio and they all crash.

Maybe this is a Windows issue, are you on a mac?

I'm on windows and it doesn't freeze for me. Maybe I misunderstood how to produce the bug. Could you record you doing all the steps?

Yes, as you could see in my signature, but I'm not sure it's the main reason...

Here is my screen recording. At about 0:35 I press 1 to load the poly mask to view 1 and the program crashes.

I could now replicate the bug on my windows machine.

Resolve 18.0 beta 6 has a fix for this.
