Node Flow (when to connect... advanced)

PostSat Jul 02, 2022 10:56 am

Is there anyone that can give some tips on how to connect the nodes?

* I understand the basics:
Blue = Mask
Yellow = Bottom
Green = Top
Grey = Trash

i.e.
Lets say I have a teapot image that I add to my video.
I wish to warp it so that it has a 3d feel to blend into my video that pans around the table it sits on.

An image plane needs to be added with a displacement and blur node...
What I don't understand is why its connected to the nodes that it is.

ie.
The blur is connected to the displacement & the teapot.

I thought the blur would only be connected to the displacement... not the teapot also.
(I thought it would still connect it because anything that follows is supposed to inherit what is behind it.)

Conclusion:
The lessons I have been taking from VFX Studio essentially said (when I asked this) that you can put nodes anywhere.

However, consistantly, this has not been the case.

The flow does not always inherit how you think it will and there are no lessons that explain how and why nodes should be placed where they are... beyond the basics mentioned at the beginning.

Thanks
