Looping MediaIn with special start in first loop only

PostSat Aug 06, 2022 2:07 pm

Hi, is this possible without additional nodes and tricks? Couldn't find any hints in the manuals.

I have a MediaIn video with "palindrome-like" content so that it can be looped without jumps.

To illustrate it with symbolic letters, the video content goes like this: ABCCBA

When looped, the result looks like this: ABCCBAABCCBAABCCBA

No jumps. Nice.

Now I want to start at C: CCBAABCCBAABCCBAAB

Is there a simple control for such a special starting point in the first instance only?

If I use the "Trim" slider on the MediaIn tab to get CCBA, that trim will be applied to every instance of the clip in the loop which is not what I want as it makes jumps, of course:

CCBA|CCBA|CCBA

Thank you, forum.

The timespeed tool with an off-set will usually take care of this.
If it interferes with the global in/out of your Mediain (which can happen)
You can also use a timestretcher with keyframes to your desired frame range to make the loop happen.

Thank you. Actually, I don't want to change the speed.

I'll check if the tool you mentioned can do just the offset without any speed manipulation ...

Yes it can do that. Speed and offset are two seperate controls. A speed of 1 is still a speed. ;-)

I just tried it with the Time Speed tool (found in "Miscellaneous") with its "Delay" control, as an extra node after the MediaIn node. It works nicely.

Thanks again.
