Fusion locked-on stabilization using planar tracker

PostMon Aug 15, 2022 5:46 pm

Hello dear friends,

For a project, my goal is to cut/mask out a person's eyes perfectly. Also, the eyes need to stay permanently in exactly the same place.
My best idea was to create a kind of locked-on effect via the Planar Tracker, but unfortunately that doesn't work out as perfectly as I'd hoped, because I don't manage to get the eyes to stay exactly in the same place in the end for all shots.
I've tried several settings in the tracker and have tried the tracking polygons on a wide variety of areas and sizes. Still, it doesn't stay still. :?

You can find a hard nut to crack under this link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h1iOO4 ... sp=sharing

And attached you will find a picture of how it should look in the end; cut out eyes and it must not move in the format.

Do you have an idea how I can optimize this so that in the end nothing moves?

Cheers,
Paul

Have you tried just using the Tracker node and using 2 trackers, one for each eye in the corner so the blinking doesn't affect them as much. Then set the Operation on the second tab to Match Move, BG only.

Yes indeed, I would try the slightest inside edge of both eyes and the base stem of the nose with three point trackers, maybe on Best Match mode and start on the last frame, the first few frames have a lot of movement. I don't see anything the Planar Tracker could do in that case.

For planar tracker the chosen area should be as little deforming as possible, potentially area around inside edges of eyes and the nose, like for regular tracker. Could also take part of the hairline, might help, might make it worse, since it is somewhat irregularly moving.
I do stuff.

Would this be locked enough?
Because it will be difficult to lock them 100% since the woman also makes her eyes bigger and smaller which is hard to compensate for.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your answers!

With the tracker it works much better, only sometimes the result is a little shaky. I suspect that the tracker is too sensitive.... Is there any way to smooth this out?
