How do I edit a second clip in fusion?

PostWed Nov 23, 2022 9:42 am

This question is embarrasingly noobish, but after searching and experimenting I just couldn't figure it out.

I'm editing a video with three tracks visible in the edit page.

I was able to edit one of the tracks in in the fusion page.
I associated a MediaIn and MediaOut node to it, attached a Transform node, added keyframes and applied the transformation.

I was pleased with my results.

Now I want to apply similar transformations to another track. And I've can't figure out how to get visual feedback of what I'm doing with that track while I'm in the fusion screen.

I've found four tutorials on YouTube, but each one of them shows how to use fusion to apply effects to tracks that can already be seen in the MediaOut monitor, and that already have a MediaIn and MediaOut node applied to them.

I haven't been able to find a tutorial that shows how to begin editing a second track.

How do I do this?

I may be a bit confusing since you seem to be referring to the Fusion tab in Resolve while the videos may be using Fusion Studio itself.

In Fusion Studio, you can just Cmd-N (Ctrl-N) for a new tab.

If you want to edit another clip in the Fusion page in Resolve, you can right-click (or Cmd-click) on the clip and select 'Open in Fusion'.

Drag a clip into Fusion. Or create a mediaIn node and set it to the clip you have on your timeline via inspector. Or if it's a background layer, do the 2nd option above and choose background in the inspector. Or create a fusion clip using the video layers in edit.
