error loading movie clip

PostSun Mar 19, 2023 9:35 pm

Is there any special action required to be able to load a Quicktime movie clip into a Fusion comp with a loader node?

Whenever I try to do this it fails and generates an error in the console saying that the .mov file couldn't be found?

Hey

Did you try "everything" ? Like drag and drop it or the "browse" way in the loader parameters ?
It may be a codec issue in this case...

*Legacy MacPro 8core Xeons, 32 Go ram, 2 x gtx 980 ti, 3SSDs including RAID
*Resolve Studio everywhere, Fusion Studio too

Sam has a good point: what Quicktime codec are we talking about? Some codecs have been depreciated (sp?) and no longer work in modern operating systems. Some of them need to have a codec pack installed. Not all Quicktimes are created equally.

Indeed. I keep Fusion 7.7.1 on hand in order to open my old art school files because it still has the legacy QT decoder in it

So then you may want to find this very saver node and look into the codec wrapped inside that you'll find in the parameters.
Note that without the comp used to create it, you could go the Mediainfo application way to find the same information...

Also check to make sure whatever drive your cache files are on is not full. The console reporting that a file can't be found is often an indicator that it's trying to load from a cache it failed to create. Could be other causes, too, but if Fusion has for some reason decided not to clean up after itself, it can fill even a very large drive surprisingly fast.
