So excited to see USD in Fusion! What is the process to add other USD Hydra renderers other than storm to Fusion 18.5?

Thanks for the help

The newly added USD feature is great and loads very quickly. Currently, it seems to lack a tree view similar to USD View, as well as some Prim selections and features. It may not have been developed yet, as it is only a test version, but it is very stable, but there seems to be some errors at the Tessellation level.

You'll have to wait for 18.5 to leave beta and an updated SDK to be released. Assuming the SDK includes the necessary tools, someone will need to write a plug-in for each renderer to be supported. There was already a significant bit of work on a Renderman plug-in for Fusion 18.1, so I know there's at least one independent developer interested in improving Fusion's rendering capabilities.

I'd expect one of the GPU or XPU renderers would be a good choice. Redshift, Karma, Renderman, Octane, Cycles (a bit of a gamble there, since the Cycles delegate is unofficial and Blender development is unpredictable).

In principle, as long as the Hydra delegation is implemented, the renderer can be used. Except for Karma, which uses the standard MaterialX, other renderers have their own material system. It is not clear how Fusion can improve material nodes. Currently, Fusion's material system does not seem to be based on PBR, and it may only provide import functionality. The material system is completed in the 3D software package. If possible, Redshift is a good optional renderer, which is simple and easy to use, And it has a speed advantage.

I'm not sure why Fusion doesn't provide a complete user API. If can provide Python APIs like Nuke and customize user interfaces and functions using Pyside, Fusion's user base will emerge with more customization tools, providing better template customization, just like AeScript.
