VFX connect result is *green*

PostWed May 17, 2023 6:31 am

I am very familiar with using VFX connect to send a clip from Resolve to Fusion and back again.

Previously I was using Resolve 15.3 and Fusion 9... everything worked as expected.

I've been trying *exactly* the same thing with Resolve 18.1.4 and Fusion 9 but although everything looks perfect in Fusion 9, when I return to Resolve 18.1.4 the resulting composited video is green.

What's going on there?

This isn't just a slight green caste, it's a significant green and most of the chroma information has been lost.

Any clues?

More info... if I render the Fusion 9 comp to a .mov file using a separate saver node then the resulting file is fine so it seems to be that Resolve 18.1.4 is getting things wrong when interpreting the file created by the comp during the VFX connect session.

Writing to a .mov file using another saver node and then manually moving that file to the media poll and timeline is a work-around but it would be nice if it worked "as advertised".

I preferred the Fu 9 GUI which was more flexible and therefore kept it longer, but finally followed the move to Fusion Studio 17 etc...
I think the connection between Resolve last versions and Fusion 9 is no more organic, so yes, an additional saver may be the last resort here...
