White glitches showing up around key

PostMon Nov 27, 2023 9:39 pm

So I've been working o n some green screen practice and alls well until suddenly there's these wierd glitches (spots) around my keyed subject. Why and how to get rid of them. They literally showed out of nowhere.
Here's a pic of them. This is a screen shot from exported video.

Hmm, not sure but it could be related to few potential workflow issues.

a) (Pre-Divide / Post-Multiply)

Stop Transparency (Alpha) Changing in DaVinci Resolve Fusion (Pre-Divide / Post-Multiply)

Transparency and Color - Alpha Multiplication in Resolve/Fusion

Understanding Premultiply, Unpremultiply and Alpha Divide ( Fusion 8 )

b) it could be related to just not a complete key. Use the gamma/gain function in viewer in fusion to make sure there is no garbage left from the keying process.

c) it could be related to out of gamut colors or related to floating point workflow, negative values. To clip them or bring them back into range, use brightness contrast node and use clip black and white checkbox and or (Pre-Divide / Post-Multiply). You can also use gamut node or color transform node to deal with out of gamut colors if there are any.

d) it could be just a bug. To make sure its also not some kind of cache issue, clear the cache and re-render the frame again, just to make sure. You can easily do that by right mouse clicking on the indicator how much cache is used in the lower right hand corner.

That is all that comes to mind at the moment.

Can you give some more info?
What tools are you using? Could you post your node setup, either a screenshot, or preferably a .setting of all the nodes?
What version of Resolve / Fusion are you using?
What's the codec of the source file?
Windows 11 // i9-13900K // RTX 4080 // 128GB DDR5 RAM // 2TB WD M.2 NVMe // ASRock Z790 // TH420 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
Mac Ultra Studio M1 64GB

A quick clue for someone.
I have a Delta key on a subject in Fusion.
After the Delta Key I took the clip into Color and made some color adjustments.
Next I turn that clip and the clip below it into a Fusion clip.
In Fusion I tracked the lower clip to attach the upper (keyed) clip to.
All worked fine and had been sitting that way for days while I worked elsewhere.
Suddenly after a new output render I noticed the issue.
Here's the clue I recently discovered. If I open the Fusion clips Timeline and turn off the keyed clips color adjustment in the Color tab, the problem disappears.
If that clue doesn't pop up any light bulbs I'll get some screen shots going.

Change the resizing filter in Resolve properties to something that isn’t sharpening. If your comp goes through color page it gets resampled if size doesn’t match timeline, and resolve’s rescaling is buggy.

Anyone?
Is this a bug?
I've done the exact same thing in at least 3 other places on this Timeline but only this one goes bad.

Are the source codecs of all the shots the same? What kind of footage are you using?

No, one clip H264/mp4 the other Panasonic V-Log/H265.MOV.
I solved the problem by using a different key tool. Still would like to solve it.

I just put a reply on the video. Maybe this will help a little to find out. It does appear to have to do with the amount of layering you put into it. I don't know why you don't just do it all in one comp. (the keying and the defocus etc) That would make it easier to troubleshoot the issue.

Changing the reize filter mode to guassian fixed my keying speckle glitch. Edit page > Retime and Scaling > Resize Filter > Gaussain.
