Warp an area

PostTue Apr 16, 2024 6:50 pm

Hi,
I’m trying to determine what tool (in Fusion) to use to warp or distort part of a clip.
Any ideas?

What kind of warp are you looking for? There is the Dent tool for bulging, Displace for value based displacement, Gird Warp for all kinds of grid based warps and of course the perspective positioner to add or remove perspective warping. And there are probably some options I left out.

Hi Sander,
I am working with some very old images. There is a person in one of them that has their mouth open and I am trying to close it but keyframe it.

Then your best bet is the grid warp with some judicious masking. I've closed people's eyes with it, when a wink needed to be added in post.

I will have to revisit the grid warp again. I was having a lot of difficulty understanding how to use it, frankly. For instance, how to zone in on a very specific area and not understanding the Source and Destination. I'll have to really dig into it.

You have to use the rect setting in the source to define what part you want to warp.
Then copy the source to the destination to make them the same. Then you can start doing your thing.
