Attaching a Planar Tracker to a mask

PostFri Apr 19, 2024 3:22 am

Hi All.

Is it possible to attach a planar tracker to polygon spline mask?
I can attach a standard tracker to said polygon but a planar tracker doesn't show up in the connect menu.

I want to replace a painting on a wall with another piece of art. The handheld camera has translation and rotation.

Thanks

Just out of curiosity, why do you need to track the mask?
If you're replacing a painting, it goes on top of the footage.

So all you have to do is mask out the new piece of art before feeding it into the planar tracker and you're done.

The painting I need to mask is a circle so I need to make a mask of it before I replace it with a square image in the round frame.

Hey

Not sure I understood the issue, but what's wrong if you track the existing logo on the wall with a planar tracker > make your "planar transform" > put this latter between the new logo and the merge onto the existing one ?

That was exactly my point. You can also mask the square image first to be round and then merge that over the footage. Depending on your setup and footage it might even result in a more accurate result.

And if you set your Corner pin to the full raster you won't need a Planar Transform node or a Merge node, just use the merge function in the Planar Tracker corner pin and mask that.
