Weird Glitches using Tilt-Shift

PostSat Apr 20, 2024 10:20 am

Hello there!
First of all I'd like to say that I haven't spent a whole lot of time in Fusion, therefore I still have a lot to learn. Nevertheless I have encountered weird glitches using the Tilt-Shift node.

I have some BMPCC4K BRAW footage that I want to apply a tilt-shift effect to. On some clips it works wonderfully, but on others I get weird artifacts with the Tilt-Shift-Node (see the picture).

I've noticed that when I decrease the highlights slider in the Iris tab I can get rid of the glitches, but still I don't understand why they occur in the first place. Is this some bit depth problem? Fusion is running with 8 bits per channel (32 bit).

My system:
Windows 10 Pro
Resolve 18.6 Studio
RTX 2070 with the latest driver
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
32GB Ram

Many thanks in advance!

Tilt-shift isn't a node I know anything about (must be relatively new). However, I thought I'd point out that you're not working in 8 bits per channel. That's 32 bits per channel, or 128 bits total including the alpha. Fusion always displays the per-channel bit depth, not the combined one.

In most cases, you probably don't need to work in higher than float16, but I don't know if tilt-shift might be an exception to that.

Well, I realize I never use the tilt-shift effect in Fusion, where I tend to make a personal build of what I need (with potentially defocus or lens blur and polys), while I sometimes do in Resolve's Edit page...
Sorry I consequently can't answer but it's interesting
