Fusion keyframes and spile editor needs a very big update

PostThu May 29, 2025 12:09 am

Firstly, they keyframe editor is very buggy, unintuitive, and out of place. The small lines that represent a keyframe are difficult to select and drag, they ghost and appear in the place where they originally were before dragging, and look nothing like the keyframes on any other page. Not to mention you cannot itutively copy and paste them.

The spline editor, it looks pixelated and feels clunky to use. You are unable to lock any movement of a keyframe or handle in either axis. When there is a marker added on the edit page, you cannot press on the keyframe on-top of it without deleting or moving the marker.

I would love a keyframe/spline editor similar to the new one on the edit page in DR20, which is much closer to what I would expect. Obviously more advanced than this however, to compensate for more advanced workflows and to use with nodes.

I would also like to see an option to 'Normalise' the curves, as sometimes you may have a curve that has a much wider range of values than another curve, but you want the same easing. This makes it so all the highest and lowest values display the same.

Summary:
Keyframes
Remove the line icon and make it a diamond shape
Fix the ghosting issue when dragging keyframes
Make them able to be copy and pasted

Spline
Make it not look pixelated
Ability to lock movement at either axis
Allow the ability to lock or hide markers so they dont get in the way
Normalise curves/values

If you hold Ctrl while dragging a spline point it will move only horizontally. It will create a new point at the new position and you can then delete the original or not. If you hold Alt while dragging a spline point it will move only vertically. There are probably other options but those are two I have used.
One issue that has puzzled me for a while is the so called 'Node Lock'. With the Node Lock on, values in the Inspector cannot be changed but if you go to the Spline Editor, the values can be changed as normal. Maybe I am taking the term 'Node Lock' too literally but as far as I can tell, that aint no Node Lock, it's an Inspector lock.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new keyframes editors in Resolve make their way to Fusion in a subsequent release, after they've been battle tested in Resolve.

I agree that it's pretty twitchy in Fusion, would love to see improvements.
