Hello,

I am just starting out with Fusion and really enjoying it. I have decided to do a fairly simple project in it and I have a couple of newbie questions that I did not find answers to in the manuals:

- I am trying to get 2k out to my video monitor through my Decklink SDI 4K. Fusion currently outputs NTSC for me. I am using DesktopVideo 10.3 and it was installed after I installed fusion.

I cannot find any settings in Fusion to modify the video out resolution/bit depth/luts etc. How might I be able to adjust these settings for video out through the Decklink.

- Are there any online resources for expressions in fusion?
- Looking to access the current frame number to drive position over time
- Looking to be able to parent the position of one node to the position of another.

Hi Justin.

Welcome to the amazing world of Fusion...

The output resolution is determined by the resolution of the tools in the flow.
If you take (e.g.) a Text+ and set it's resolution to 2K in it's image-tab,
it should output the exact resolution you want.

For expressiony, you might want to have a look at the Fusion Tool Reference,
available as a PDF download in the support section of this site.

In terms of position-over-time, this simple expression on a tool's center-control
should give you an idea:
Point(time/100,0.5+ sin(time/10)/2)

Parenting can be done easily by typing '=' in any value field and press return.
Then use the little '+' to pickwhip the position from the other tool.

Alright, between the Tool reference and some online stuff (an archived version of VFXPEDIA.com) I have the expression stuff well in hand.

I still, cannot figure out the video output from Fusion to my monitor through my Decklink card. I only manage to get NTSC out.

Does anyone know how to adjust the video out settings so that I could send 2K out through my decklink card?

Thanks for the expressions tips. I am sorting through and have discovered little gems like reference size in order to tie together two different sized layers.

I am still having trouble getting 2K to my monitor. I just opened a new comp. Put a Text+ tool in. It is showing a size of 2048X1152 (my cinema spec), I hit the 3 key and it sends NTSC to my monitor. Tried the same with a background to make sure it's not a DoD issue and the same thing happens.

I have also tried the more vanilla 1920X1080 and the same thing happens.

Any other input you might have would be greatly appreciated.
