I have tried to import an SVG from Illustrator into Fusion 7.5, so far without success. Does anybody have any tips on how to make the SVG import work?

Fusion can only import SVG's as a polygon presented raster images and not truly svg's, being a raster app it is. In 6.4 the import works fine, but not sure what's wrong with 7.5.

P.S. You do use the import menu and not drag'n drop or loader don't you?

I was using the import menu, yes. Just wasn't aware it could only read raster data. A search in the manual returned nothing on the subject of SVGs.

It can read the svg, but when imported it will recreate the image using a BG tool with polygons attached to it to represent the image. You can use the polygons with different BG's to change the original colors etc.

Actually it doesn't work fine every time in 6.4 - sometimes it messes the image, especially text.
Still works (kinda) though.

Thanks, I did get it to work. Not the best SVG importer I have to say. No support for gradients, problems with even/odd winding on even a simple path... and no continuous rasterisation like After Effects. That last one was really the reason I was testing out the SVG import.

Sometimes when SVG's are imported, some of the Polylines are not closed.
In that case you won't see any effect of those Polylines.
The current workaround is to select that Polyline and press Shift-O to close it.

Another reason for the SVG not showing up correctly is
that sometimes the BG-tools that are created have their Alpha at 0,
which again might prevent the result from showing up.

Cheers.

Eric.
