Hi
If I want to put a text on a clip withour any effects what so ever, do I have to use a Merger component?
I try without, I have my text but the text itself is alway in alfa channel look. outside the window I have the letter with green outline, inside the clip the text let go through the pattern square grey.

Text LAYOUT Background Alpha 1.00
Text Shading
R+G 1.0
B 0.0
A 0.0

I can do what ever I want, I don't get my yellow inside the text.
Without Merger No?

you have to set the alpha to 1

the alpha represents how opaque the layer is, if you set it to 0 the merge node uses a add operation instead of the over

You probably know I am a newbe from NewBe city.
I make a image with the setting;I have to understand this alpha business. What is wrong on the setting. The text is there but not on the top; it is mask by the picture.

you have you merge in "pass through" mode, which means its disabled. then it dont do anything. you see that icon with the red "P"? click this or hit ctrl+p to enable it again

It's easy if you know how, as a matter of fact it is one of the most basic skills needed, all you need to do is look in the right place.

LOL, I think you meant to say "look for the merge help files"
