Hi There,
Just looking through Fusion for my first time. Is it a program with which I can do clean up and beauty work, retouching, etc.? It seems more 3D compositing, so I wanted to know if it is a good tool for this less complex more 2D work? I would assume so, but I haven't seen any videos on it or anything in the manual to make me think this a good solution for that type of work.
Thank you.

you can do this kind of work in fusion, you have everything you need: tracker, colorcorrection, blur, paint tools, mask, ...
but a good software which can do planar tracking will help you a lot. i did recently some "scarification" work (added veins, scars, ...) to a face and did the tracking of the different parts in Mocha and exported the tracking into fusion to add and control all the modifications i needed

That is good to know. I have thought about using Fusion as a means of extracting or otherwise cutting out certain objects as part of basic motion graphics workflow, not to mention an alternative to Photoshop for such tasks. I have seen a few videos on the color correction aspect, so that will be of a big benefit. From what I have heard and seen, Fusion has more powerful masking tools.
It may take a little time and effort to get used to a node based approach but will be well worth it. Most likely going to use Fusion for extracting and touching up still images then send those over to Apple Motion for everything else. Still waiting for a Mac OS X version of Fusion, hoping to hear something soon.
I would guess Fusion would be a good tool to make an animated logo as well.

Thank you for the reply! I'm thinking that it would be amazing to add that to my color repertoire, touching up red eye, low level-moderate beauty work, stain removal, etc.. If you are saying that it is indeed worth my time to explore, that would be good.

Good to hear. Look forward to giving Fusion a try. Might even use it to replace Motion for motion graphics. Better masking tools, great color correction, looks very solid. Kudos to the BMD team!
