shape3d depth

Hi everyone,

I do my first steps in Fusion and stuck for some days.
How get I a Z-channel out of a Shape3D? I merge two shape3ds in a merge3d, but when viewing the z-channel everything seems flat. (white in this case).

I only found tutorials where the footage came from outside and always contained a z-channel, but how can I create one inside fusion?

regards.

White is probably good. If you hover with your mouse on it you will see values with a huge range in the bottom left corner. Probably even negative values.

In order to view the depth channels range of values you need to press the range button on the viewer: that is the little gradient button on the far right side.

Please do not forget to set it back, this is a common error.

you need also a Render3d node to create the Z channel, shape3d and merge3d dont produce any images you can use later in the comp

Thanks for help. I got it.
The hint to use the gradient button (show normalised image) was very helpful. And I saw the Z values (button of user interface) while hovering with the mouse.

I had a renderer 3D after the Merge 3D and tried to get depth without using open gl in the renderer.
Now I can use two methods. First is enabling accumulation effects of the Renderer 3D and using the cameras focal point to focus. Second option was to insert Autogain to normalise the Z-channel and DepthBlur after the Renderer 3D.

It works nice but when moving the camera to far toward z fusion crashes reproducibly.
I could provide the comp.
