Light Pass Though Question

PostWed Apr 29, 2015 1:28 am

Slogging through the manual. Came across this. Wonder why a shadow would pass through when pass through lights is off on a merge node. The cube is in the scene under a merge without any lights input. But it still casts a shadow. Why is this?

Edit: I do see that it does what is expected with OGL render. This is the Software Render. Is there a setting or something I am missing?

Additionally, if I turn shadow casting off for the object in Software render mode it does nothing. Still casts the shadow.

I tried this in 7.7, 7.0, and 6.4 and it does the same for me. OpenGL behaves fine, but not SW.

It was just a test, I did not even save it. It was not that complex. 2 mins to set it up just like it is in the posted image.

When I get back to working on this I can put something together. But as I said, it is very simple.
