Particle transparency question

Hi,

Using Fusion 8 Beta 2 on mac so this may be the reason.

New to Fusion. When I try and make particles transparent they become additive. Under 'Merge Controls' there's an 'additive - subtractive' slider that seems to give control over this but it has no effect.

Making smoke and trying to lower the opacity of bitmap particles without them becoming additive. Going for subtle smoke...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried looking at the smoke presets in the templates folder?

The merge values are for 2D particles only, for 3D you need to adjust the alpha variance in the color variance section of 'style'

Sorry for the late reply Rony. I got slammed...

I tried the alpha variance, but this just makes the particles additive.
It's like a balancing act, slightly more transparency, slightly brighter. I looked at the preset and noticed the same thing.

Thanks,

Dominik

Set the geometry to subtractive instead of additive?

Better late than never.
I had the same problem right now. You have to change the color in "Color over life controls" to 0.5 gray.

solved the problem for me.
