Working with 1.3x anamorphic raw files in Fusion 8.0

PostWed Nov 18, 2015 8:07 am

Hi guys, sorry if this is a dumb Q - first time using fusion....

How do you use RAW footage that was filmed in 1920x1080 but has a squeeze of 1.3x (from an anamorphic adaptor) - I know in resolve there is a clip attribute to unsqueeze it but can you do the same clip options in fusion?

If not, does that mean I just have to render the clips out from resolve first?

If so which format should I use to maintain the best grade? / do I grade before or after the comp? or do I grade in fusion? EXR format in the correct ratio with the black bars? or without the black bars?

Any help is appreciated! thanks :)

In the 'import' tab of your loader there is the 'pixel aspect' option. You can change the pixel aspect there to suit your needs. Just enter 1/1.3 in the x (or the y - I can never remember) field and Fusion will do the math for you, so you can enjoy your images in the intended aspect ratio.
