Bin Server

Is there currently a way to run a Bin Server on a non Windows Server OS? Our server is Linux.

...or perhaps there is a way to run a Bin Server on a Windows 7 machine? Our license server for other pieces of software we use is Windows 7.

BMD has pulled the Linux version for now.

You should be fine running it on a non-server Windows license though, as it doesn't actually share any files. The data the bin points to can be on the Linux server, the bin server just maintains the bin file and serves up requests for the contents, but that data is really small, just UUID's and paths and a couple other bits of metadata.

For clarification.. Until BMD releases the Linux version I will still need to run the Bin Server on a machine running Windows Server software, but after that I can point the paths at our Linux asset server?

No, you can run it on any Windows box. Doesn't need to be a server license, since none of the assets will be on that machine.

Do you know what port the eyeonServer uses? I am having problems getting it to connect.
