Green screen keying, troubles with Yellow in my shot

PostFri Jan 01, 2016 5:58 pm

I am struggling with my green screen keying. I watched a load of tutorials on the net about green screen keying with Fusion.

It all works quiet okay when i have normal green screen footage, but i struggle with my own footage which i need for my Video ''hobby'' projekt: Zupaman (funny videos i try to make on youtube for kids)

The problem is that the outfit that i wear in the videos is almost completely bright yellow. I can't pull a good key, cause yellow is so close to green,..... color wise.

I also had the problem with Keylight 1.2 in After effects for a long time. Till i found out that if i change the Screen balance from 50% to 10% it worked much better.

I tried loads of stuff with Primatte in Fusion, but i can't figure it out.

Does anybody has tips for me? How to get a good key, when there is a lot of yellow in the shot?

Greetings Lenny

Hi Lennart,

I'd actually do a change of plans and maybe use bluescreen instead of green. Could solve the issue already.

Else, there's not much for me to suggest if I don't know your primatte settings; is the issue that you can't get a solid core or that colour changes too much or... ?
One route could be to use two keyers and combine them, one for core and one for edge; I actually like to use that technique for any key.
You can also try to utilize the "hybrid" function in primatte, sometimes that can help

+1 on the blue screen. I have a dual sided one so I can flip to blue when I'm shooting someone with blonde hair, etc.
