Hello,

I can not find any online tutorial or videos about how to track the paint cloning tool. If I would like to remove an object from a scene, how can I track it so that I do not have to paint it out frame by frame? Can I connect a tracker to the paint tool?

Hi,

I've read the other thread and i'm successfully tracking a clone shape to a tracker - but now I want to offset the tracking data because as soon as I connect the clone centre to the tracker the clone shape pops over to a different part of the shot (i'm tracking a slightly different part of the shot than where I want the clone shape to be)

I hope that makes sense?!

One way to prevent this is by connecting the stroke to the tracker *before* you start to paint.
If you want to do it the way you describe you can open up your clone stroke and activate the 'overlay' button. This will give you a draggable center cross while showing you the image where you're cloning from.
Just adjust the center cross of the offset to line up the image to your patch, turn off the overlay and you should be good to go.

Thanks - the overlay is useful to know about - but this only affects the clone source area - not the position of the clone object itself...

Right you are.

If you need to move the stroke itself, go to 'stroke controls' and right-click on the center that's connected to the tracker (it's green to show you it's animated)
If you do you'll see an 'insert' menu which contains 'offset: position -> offset position'
When you select this an offset will be introduced where the position is connected to the tracker (the way it was before), now you can adjust the off-set (an 'x' somewhere on your screen) to move the tracked clone patch back into position.
