Frequent application 'pauses'

Hi,

I have an annoying problem that only shows in Fusion. I'm on Windows 10 with Nvidia K6000 and Titan-X and a Wacom. I can have an empty comp with on a BG node and set it playing. Every 30 seconds or so (not strictly regular but around that sort of interval) the app will freeze for 3 seconds or so and then carry on.

Of course the scenario above is just to prove a point but during operation it is very frustrating and i'm struggling to find a cause. I read on Steakunderwater about turning off V-Sync in the tweaks preferences but that didn't help...

CPU doesn't seem to spike and I have plenty of memory. Any ideas gratefully received!

Paul

Try running in safe mode and see if it happens still.

Common culprits are virus scanners/power managers/anything that runs in the background trying to be clever.

Also check your Performance Detail Event Logs in Windows, lots of errors may show you where the issue lies.

Where is your cache output going to? SSD, HD? Dont think that should be a reason either, but using SSD for project files and cache will make a huge improvement in performance, as well as having a good chunk of RAM dedicated to the app.

Hi,

Thanks for your thoughts.
I have an M.2 cache setup and i'm allocating a big portion (60%) of available RAM on a 64GB machine so i'm pretty sure it isn't that. It doesn't feel like a performance issue - just an intermittent lock up. It's probably something i'll live with and will probably vanish on a software upgrade or driver install somewhere...

That is my next thought.. a driver issue or conflict. Sorry.. I have had issues like this in various ways and drives me nuts not knowing.
