No video option?

Hello everyone! I am a total newbie so please bear with me.

I've created a basic composition, rendered it, and sent that rendering to the "save" node. When the dialog pops up there is no Quicktime or other movie options for the file. Everything appears to be Fusion-specific or image files. I don't have .mov, .mpg, etc. options. I'm simply trying to save a video file of my composition...

Here's a screenshot of my options:

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris, did you get a reply to your question? I'm seeing the very same thing - no video option for .mov on output. Like you, I'm a newbie to Fusion. This is very frustrating. I'm running Ubuntu Studio and was liking it a lot... until this. Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

Hi, Am also a newbie and found the same issue after building my first production. (My sons name with multi coloured stars bursting off it... he liked it!)

Did some research on the forum and it seems it is possible to get a video option by downloading Quick Time for Windows as this includes a number of supported Codecs. However, unfortunately Quick Time for Windows is no longer supported by Apple and there is a possible security risk.

Having said that, one of the forum members made a good point about it being bad practice to save to a single movie file (less chance of corruption) and instead recommended using alternative software like Handbrake to stitch the individual images together once the render of all images was complete.

Perhaps it could be possible to script this in order to automate but I've not yet tried this.

It does seem a little odd that this functionality is not available out of the box. I would think it a little odd if my Digital Audio Workstation came without the ability to save my production as an MP3.

I am using the free version so will not complain (too much ).

Hi,

I am also a newbie and found two options.

1. Download Quick Time for Windows. This will install the supported Codecs. Unfortunately Apple no longer support Quick Time for Windows and there maybe some security issues with the version that is available.

2. Use another application post render to stitch the files together. A good example is Handbrake. Perhaps it is possible to automate this process via script, I've not yet tried myself.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Anthony.

To the OP, do you have QuickTime installed?

There is no video option in the Linux version and on Windows you need QuickTime installed to write .mov files
