Parent Clone Paint to Tracker

Is there a way to parent a clone paint stroke to a tracker without the stroke snapping directly to the tracker's center axis? Often times I find the trackable point isn't exactly on top of what I need to paint out so the clone paint would need to keep its position relative to the tracker and not exactly on the tracker.

What I've tried but hasn't worked:
- connecting the stroke before actually painting, but it still snaps to the tracker
- the Stroke to Path Keep Position script mentioned in tutorials, but no scripts appear when right clicking the stroke in the modifiers tab of the paint tool
