Fusion 8.2 Beta 2 has been released for OSX, Linux and Windows. This has a number of new features and can be downloaded from the Support section of the Blackmagic Design Website.

Features
Improved DNG support, with Resolve matching
Double click in the empty area of comp tabs to create a new comp
New animation indicator shortcuts:
double-click to animate, or set key if already animated
ctrl/cmd+double-click to add expression
shift+double-click to remove modifiers/expressions
Can now add expressions to non-master colour wheel inputs. The expression edits will only be visible for the currently active wheel range (ie. master, low, mid, high).
Changed default font for Text+ and Text3D to Open Sans, for platform consistency
Can now specify multiple license servers (semicolon-separated) in FUSION_LICENSE_SERVER env var, * to scan local subnet (8.1)
Added Global Options/Background Color options to image view's menu
Added Save Version to the File menu
New Linux install dirs: /opt/BlackmagicDesign/Fusion8, /opt/BlackmagicDesign/FusionRenderNode8
Linux Render Node executable is now named FusionRenderNode
Can turn off image view description/RoI/DoD labels
F1 brings up the PDF help files, with context awareness where possible
New Hotkey Manager

Fixes & Improvements
Various Linux Installer/Uninstaller improvements
Fixed occasional random crash on some platforms
Fixed highlighting of animated tools in timeline view
Audio playback improvements
Fixed occasional corrupted Loader tooltip
Scripts can load comps again even when Allow Network Renders is off
Fixed updating of some menu items like Allow Network Renders
Improved playback “fast” mode timing calculations
Fixed luminance clipping during some YUV conversions
View LUT macros work again
.viewlut files now show up in all cases, and fixed selecting them from the menu
Deleting Loader and OpenCL cache folder works again
Double clicking on the control window title zoom icon now works like a normal click
Fixed a RenderNode startup crash on systems without OpenGL
Improved .ma file compatibility with Maya 2016
View activation improvements
Fixed possible crashes when closing comp
Fixed possible crash with tear-off menus
GamutViewLUT can optionally apply gamma to alpha
Can now use file names containing extended chars with QuickTime on Windows
Gamut Custom inputs can be set from standard colour spaces from a context menu. Groups labels let all custom chromaticities or gamma option be set at once.
Dragging expanded flow group edges no longer re-centres the reference point
Clicking in an empty flow area anywhere will deselect tools, instead of needing to click in the group that had the active tool
Can now insert tools into and remove tools from pipes that lead outside flow groups. There are still restrictions, such as not being able to disconnect a pipe leading outside a group if that would cause the group's link to be connected to nothing inside the group, or itself (eg. its output to its input). The pipes themselves can't be dragged/moved either
Fixed crash when deleting an inner nested group
A mouse click isn't ignored in the flow view if it was made active due to the application becoming active without a mouse click (eg. Windows alt+tab)
Adding a tool by dropping from the toolbar into GLView will now add after the viewed tool even if it's within a group
Fixed possible hang with Monitor Output on Windows
FuServer as a service now gets restarted if it fails, after a 30sec delay
Improved hotkey mapping to better support non-US keyboards
Fixed a crash with FBX importing
Arrow keys now work in the Add Tool dialog on Linux
Fixes and improvements for fullscreen flipbooks
Various stability improvements

UI
New (actually noticeable!) console warning indicator
New larger, clearer icons for File Requester
Lighter image view background colour
Depth control buttons layout changes
Default control width expanded by 25 pixels
Improved graphics for console icons & slider/screw controls
Improved UI font rendering on Linux
Fixed flow view link positioning when changing active tool
Better timeline colours
Timeline bars are drawn brighter when selected
Fixed loader arrow at right edge of timeline bar
Better centering of timeline text
Tips don't affect the initial console icon
Improved control label rendering
Fixed maximising of floating views
Fixed view visibility on layout changes
Improved active-view border drawing in some cases
Fixed view border when fullscreen
Fixed arrow & tab key handling in LUT and Mesh controls

Great stuff, Steve.

Now, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but are you guys considering adding *.avi support back into Fusion? (if only for the Windows version) I use Edius all the time, because it's a very efficient codec and Pre 7.7 I could roundtrip to and from Fusion easily. Now I need to export from Edius to image sequence to work with my footage in Fusion. That's a shame. Especially since Generation *does* support these files.

Can anyone enlighten me : what does "Improved DNG support, with Resolve matching" mean?

DNG reading in earlier versions had some artifacts and the controls were not as flexible. Now it more closely resembles Resolve. I haven't tested all of the settings, but they do seem to be the same.

One thing that still isn't working the way I expect is timecode. It's in the Camera table, not in the metadata root table.

Cool, the laggy Gui is gone! a little bit in the viewport, but no lags in the Flow. !

BUT, : Macros didnt work as expected. For some frames it works, but then some tools in the macro dint get an input . ?.
F.E.
XFs (the macro) cannot get Parameter for New control at time 49

this happens with many different macros

Beta 2 will be "Not responding" frequently, during deleting some LDs. (I think..)

LD is something strange. When I change "Global In"(ex. 0 to 100), its duration will be "1". It doesn't keep original duration.

LD can't read some mp4. Fu7 and adobe products can read it.

EDIT:Beta 2 can't read mp4 and mov(prores). (Studio version on Windows 7)

Please support native 64-bit read and write .mov like Davinci Resolve.

I uninstall 8.2 and reinstall it again. I could read mp4 and mov files.

LD duration problem may be fixed.

P.S. Auto control advance(off) is diffrent from Fu7. I want to fix it.

Thank you.

I have been trying to work with Views in Fusion Studio 8.2_b2 and not having much luck applying the methods (members) I have read in the Fusion 8 scripting reference, using the py2 console.
Code: Select all
left_view = comp.GetPreviewList()['Left']['View']
print left_view

Which gets me an object which appears to be a GLView
But the following has no effect.
Code: Select all
left_view.EnableLUT(False)

Am I going about this the wrong way? I would like to be able to enable view LUTs, set LUT file paths and adjust the Gamma using py2.

In a related discovery the following returns the view dimensions in Fusion 7, but crashes the beta.
Code: Select all
print comp.GetPreviewList()['Left']['View'].GetAttrs()

Thanks a lot!
In the meantime we were forced to switch to good ol' "black and yellow"(or black and red nowadays) comp package, but we're keeping fusion for some special projects.
