Generation

Who's using Generation?
I'm intrigued to hear stories about how people are using it, and what they love/hate about it.

Generation was a huge selling point of Fusion Studio for us. It's just arrived, and I'm itching to dive into it.
I'm surprised there's not more info out there about it tbh. I must've spoken to 200 people at IBC last week about Rony Soussan's awesome Generation demo at the BMD stall, and not one of them had even heard of it, let alone had any idea what it was. But every time I explained Generation to someone, their eyes lit up and they wanted to know more.

There's a LOT of unhappy Nuke Studio users out there who would be very interested in Generation if BMD would just tell people about it. I can only hope BMD have big plans for it. I think it could rock the boat in a big way :)

So it'd be cool to hear stories about how people are actually using this incredible tool :)

Here we are trying to drop AE off since Adobe changed its business from software to "ransomware".

Generation is (another) good reason to move towards this direction, since it allows a deep integration between artists working on the same project.

I was very impressed after watching this:

Yeah, that demo's really impressive. That was one of the reasons I hunted it down at IBC last week. Rony Soussan gave me an awesome hands on demo at BMD's stall. I must've spent a good 4+ hours with him, asking about workflows and functionality.

As a Nuke user (for now), I'm intrigued to see how well Generation works with Nuke scripts. And C4D scripts too. In an ideal world, I'd like to see a C4D script managed inside Generation, to the extent that new renders are automatically populated in the timeline. One step further would be that a user is emailed a notification when a new render is created.

I believe all of this is possible with Python/LUA, but I'd love to know how possible it will be without any scripting.
I haven't got Generation up and running yet, as I'm waiting on our buying dept to purchase a Windows license for my Mac Pro. Once that's sorted, I'll dive in and take it for a spin.

Did you get Generation up and running Charles and if so did you do it in a VM?

Oh and does the player in Generation have SDI monitoring via Decklink?
