Cant animate my character level styling transform

A single word generated from Text+ is in Flow, we need to animate the letters manually - as if they are on a scrabble board , the intention is to make a 'grungy hand animated' element.

Charater level styling has been initialised and in the resulting modifier some controls appeared, the "allow manual kerning" button in the view has allowed individual letters to be transformed to taste.

It seems like the letters transform should be animateable but after much effort, defeat is admitted and I'm asking for advice.

Should I be doing this using an instance of text+ for each letter in my word?

Can you define 'grungy hand animated'? Do you mean you want all letters to sort of jerky move around in a vibrating sort of way?

Thanks for your reply.
Rather than discuss artistic matters we updated the attachement on original post which will hopefully explain the query better.

I don't do a lot of typography, but in this case I think your solution is the only way.
CLS is just for the styling and not for the motion of the individual characters.
Maybe someone else will prove me wrong, but I think single letters are the way to to go in this case.

Maybe in such a case AE is the better option. It's typo animation features are excellent.
