Garbled frame order when rendering out .mov files

PostThu Dec 01, 2016 5:57 pm

Hi,

I have a problem that's starting to drive me crazy. Whenever I render out .mov files in Fusion, they often render out with wrong, garbled frame order. I see it already during the render that frames do not render in serial order, but sometimes it saves fine into the .mov file, while other times it does not.

I can't figure out what's causing it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Purge cache immediately prior to render?
Right click on memory usage in lower right corner of interface - purge cache.

In prefs, Memory, Final Render
set Render 1 Frames at once

Thanks! This helped.

Won't this impact the rendering performance though?

Well, while I appreciate that I got working solution for my problem, Blackmagic Staff here always seems to do the bare minimum when it comes to engagement with community :) It's in a very sharp contrast to other developers ;)

This isn't really anything to do with BlackMagic or Steve and the ex eyeon team - this is due to the way the quicktime format works and is one of the many, many problems with using mov files. And Steve very quickly gave the answer to the rendering issue . . .

Aside from the inability to render multiple frames into a qt there are contrast and gamma issues that vary depending on what os and even what machine you are playing them back on, there are labyrinthian issues with which os is being used etc etc. Months if not years of my life have been spent dealing with this stuff on various projects.

See this post

https://vitrolite.wordpress.com/2010/12 ... gamma_bug/

to get some idea of the other issues that have been problems for years.

I really don't want to get any dialogue about how the format is necessary to deal with clients etc, I just wanted to put my hand up to flag that these quicktime issues aren't a problem with any sort of support, they're just a problem.
