Please help with the clone :)

Hello.
Can you please help to figure out what I missed?
I'm trying to eliminate the unwanted object from the video. The spinning motion made it (probably?) impossible in DaVincy. So, it's my very first project in Fusion :)

Seems like I did everything right: the clone covered the subject, the tracker was created successfully, the clone is connected to the tracker... But only one frame, the initial, still covered by the clone - in animation, the clone disappearing.

you stroke duration is set to 1 frame

this is one of the backsides of the multistroke: you can not easily change the parameters after you painted, you have to set them upfront

There is a script that lets you convert multistrokes into normal strokes. Maybe that could help in this case?

Something going wrong.
As you can see on the screenshot, the motion is not linear - the camera is spinning.

I changed the stroke to the regular one, I connected it to the path, but the result is terrible: the clone stamp itself following the tracker, but the offset distance and direction remaining the same. As a result, the unwanted object covering in the each frame by the different pattern.

As far as I understand, to create the good clone, not the paint effect itself should be animated, but the clone source and target should be tracked and animated independently.

Is it possible?

Here is the link for the video, if someone would like to do this test: https://we.tl/YKQplgNFya

Thank you in advance.

So,what is the object that's unwanted? That will help me to paint out the correct figure.
Also, the recompressed footage is completely unusuable, because of the blockiness.
I'll see if I can download the real version of the shot.

If the clone source and target move indepenently (basically everything but simple offet) you have two options:
- animate the clone source and target including transformation center, rotation etc;
- stabilize the image, clone, and reintroduce the motion.

The first one is preferable as you will avoid unnecesdary resampling, but can be difficult or impossible to achieve if tools don't support the logic.

Second one is easier to manage, but resamples the image more times, thus introduces more softness. Make sure that you over only the cloned patch on original footage (don't resample whole image!) and if possible, choose a resample filter with suitable sharpening effect.

I would try make sure the tracking is using the tracker over centre of the replaced object for its pivot point (Pivot Type/Selected Tracker) and the additional tracker(s) only to provide scale and rotation. I dont know how much X,Y or Z translation is in the shot but I would use a masked still for the replacement background and add grain if possible (may not be if its water etc.)

Thank you all!
The "source" is hardly compressed footage, I hope it is enough for tests. The original is 4K and huge, no problems with blockiness there :)

The unwanted oblect is the guy (it's me, actually - the fatal mistake with distance estimation) at the edge, you can see me at the screenshot (original and removed).

P.S. I'm totally newbie with video at all, and with Fusion especially, so please, give as detailed directions as possible - sorry for this, and THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

Have happy holidays!!!

Hi,

I've made an example comp of the first 400 frames. Unfortunately I can't upload it on the forum, so you'll have to use this link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dhsv47qygz53z ... .comp?dl=0

I hope this will get you started.

Thank you very much!
I will heck it tonight.

Unfortunately, I can't found any systematical tutorial for Fusion, similar for the Goat's Eyes DaVinci tutorial. Tons of "lessons" like "How to make the Game Of Thrones' blind eyes" which can't actually help to understand the basics and the system, and the official documentation which is very detailed but not actually helpful for fresh starters.

Thank you. I really appreciate your help.
Merry Christmas :)

I had wanted to see if there was a way to do this in Resolve, but didn't find the time until now. This result is not really satisfactory, but the basic approach seems to be working. So I suspect that with good original footage that isn't highly compressed and that doesn't have the highlight spot over the unwanted fellow, that this approach has a fair chance of working.

The approach uses Key Lock and a rotational offset of the tracked Power Window.

Hello Jay!
Yes, seems like you solved this.
Can you please explain your approach a little more detailed? Thank you very much in advance!

1) Make a good track at an area near where the guy is standing. In this case, you'll want to track backward from the end of the clip. I used cloud tracking and tracked a spot behind him where he would not step into my tracking "cloud." Make sure that you properly track pan, tilt, zoom and rotate. You may or may not need to toggle 3D tracking to get a good solid track.

2) Once tracked, go to the Power Window and scrub to the last frame. Resize and re-position your Power Window that was used for tracking so that it covers the area where the guy walks a bit. Adjust the softness of the edges as desired. You may also want to change the shape to Bezier to make a more irregular shape for blending in with surrounding natural elements. Geometric shapes are more easily noticed.

3) Go to the sizing panel. Change to Node Sizing mode.

4) Check the Key Lock box. Change the Rotate value until you have replaced the image in the Power Window with a "stamp" overlay that blends well to replace the image of the walking guy. Other displacements will shift significantly. Note how the shifting moves outside imagery into the Power Window area when Key Lock is checked instead of shifting the imagery inside the Power Window.
