Hi guys

i was making a green screen and i put a desert photo as a BG when i merged it

the footage is 1920 x 1080 but then the merge suddenly was at a different size, i believe is the photo

what can i do to make both the same size 1920 x 1080? i tried changing the merge size but i failed

any suggestions??

fusion will always take the size of the BG as the ouptut size. you can think of the BG input is your canvas and you put another layer on top of it.

you can use a resize node or the letterbox to scale you BG footage to the same size

i do always use a "Background" node with my desired outout size as the root of all merges. so i have a "Background" node which goes into a merge and the FG of this merge is the first layer/the back most image (in your case the desert), then it goes into a new merge where the next layer is merged on top (in your case the keyed footage)
i use this approach to have easier control of the size and transformation of the BG layer

im sorry im still a noob at this
if i understand well im guessing you are suggesting that i use 2 merges (1 for the BG and the other for the FG) and then put them together??
so there is no other way this can be done with just 1 merge??

like i said excuse my low intellect on the software im really trying to understand everything i can at the moment??

also are there any tips you might give me starting out on this software to get to your level of expertise?
are there any links, tutorials, books you might recommend?

Thank you a lot to everyone who is giving me a hand
thank you very much

the upper approach is what i tried to describe in my post, i put a Background as the lowest layer and everything goes on top of this. so i define my "canvas size" with this Background node. now its easy to scale or transform the position of the BG footage.

the lower approach is with less nodes and the size of the BGFootage defines you canavas. but if you want to scale or transform the BGFootage it can get a little more complex.
you can use the "resize" node or the "letterbox" to scale your BGFootage to the format you need.
