DNxHD OP1a .mxf on Windows

PostSat Feb 04, 2017 4:03 pm

I've just moved over to using a PC for Resolve and Fusion. I'm trying to avoid installing any of the QuickTime components for the PC - Resolve can read QuickTimes wihtout a problem and it can render DNxHD OP1a .mxf so that side of things is working well.

Can I get Fusion to read and write DNxHD OP1a .mxf? (I'm looking at the Avid site and only found QuickTime codecs for download, unless it's all on the same codec installer?)

No, Fusion can't write to mxf, and i don't believe it can read them either. Infact if you have avid media on your timeline and send to fusion using connect, the first thing it does is convert the clip to another format.

Thanks for that info. That's a pain because it works so well when using .mov . Re-rendering media to .dpx and back isn't ideal (although there are some advantages with image sequences in that I think you can overwrite just the frames you need when making adjustments).
