I'm trying to finally get to terms with fu 8 in production and have hit an immediate issue - when I render a preview and play it back in the viewer I get dropped frames and generally choppy performance. The same comp file consistently produces a smooth drop frame free preview in 7.7.1 so I don't think it's my machine or setup.
I've read this thread -
http://www.steakunderwater.com/wesuckle ... back#p7029
where Peter Loveday mentions a playback bug that was meant to be fixed by 8.2.
I've tried "full" "auto" and "fast" selections on the RMB playback button but it still drops frames. This is a serious problem in evaluating moves etc. I know I can render a quicktime as work around but this will be a big hit in the workflow I need.
Anyone managed to get smooth playback out of fu8?
Just to be clear, I could reduce bit depth resolution etc and see if I can get a smooth playback but this would mean the playback wasn't much use to me. The machine is pretty heavy, i7 proc, 64 gigs ram, dual quadro M4000, so it should be able to play back in at least real time from RAM and in fact it does in lots of other softwares. And fu7.7.1 has no problem at all. And it's a short sequence, under 100 frames.
Many thanks in advance.
