DNxHR HQX in fusion

Will Fusion read DNxHR files? It's not loading for me natively. Do I need to download the quicktime codex from Avid?

I'm using Fusion 7.7.1
Thanks,

Curious here as well. My main rig is PC and most my footage is DNxHR too. Loaded it in Fusion for Mac and it will not play either. Didn't try PC yet.

I tried it the other night on my PC and could not get it to read. I don't have QuickTime installed on my box though. Not sure if Fusion is expecting to see it for decoding.

For most QuickTime Codecs you need QuickTime to be installed (fusion 8.2). For avid dnxhd you need to install the avid codec too. But AFAIK dnxhr won't work at the moment

I'm on a windows 7 box (with Avid Media Composer also installed) I have no issue reading ProRes, DNXHD or DNXhr (tested an 8 bit version of dnxhr)

maybe there is a difference between a DNxHR file from Avid and one from Ressolve.

i did just now export a clip from Ressolve as DNxHQ HQX, 444 and SQ and non of them worked in my Fusion. (win 10, Fu8.2)

I'll try one out if Resolve and see. Original poster also had trouble with prores which ive never had issues with either.

Michael is seeing the same behavior I am. I've tried installing the codecs directly from Avid, running Win10 64bit, with no luck.

Neither DNxHR (any variant) from Resolve, or Adobe will open in Fusion 7.7.1 or 8.2.1 in my testing.

I just output a dnxhq from Resolve, it read into fusion without issue.

Are you guys using the PE codecs that come with Avid, or the free ones they supply for download?
(I think PE stands for professional edition)

I don't do it much, but i know i've output DNX from fusion as well.

Windows 7
fusion studio 8.1.1
Resolve studio 12.5

I'm using the free ones they supply for download. From what I know the PE codecs only difference is the Avid MPEG2 IMX, because of licensing. But there might be something in the install that Fusion is not seeing.

When you output DNxHR HQ from resolve, what are you pixel dimensions? I've only tried 4096x2160, maybe there's a resolution issue in fusion with that codec.

just did a 4k out of Resolve, and fusion read it fine.

Here is the file for anyone who wants to try. (its just under a gig for 4 secs.)

i'll leave it up for a few days.

Thanks for uploading this Glenn, I just tried it in Fusion 7.7.1 and it didn't load. I'll try re-installing the avid codecs again and see if it works, as Michael is reporting.

Re-installing the Avid 2.7.3 codecs does allow Fusion to read and write DNxHR files.

I do however see a significant lag in the GUI when using DNxHR files, much more so than prores or image sequences. This lag is apparent when selecting the loader, or any image processing nodes. This is happening in 7.7.1, I don't have v8 installed on this machine to test if it's the same behavior.
