Particles follows a 2D path

Hi guys

I was trying to make particles move along a poly mask
(Not emmit, but follow it) but no good results whatsoever

I've searched in some videos and articles and they say that the only way they have resolve the issue is by moving the particles in 3D (X, Y, Z) and then use a camera 3d and rendered 3D to give the 2D illusion

Do you think that is better to use the 3D way or move the emitter instead of trying to attach it to a mask path?

Please and thank you

In this one, the user makes a 3D shape and make the particles go inside forcing a path for the particles

Which can help but it's not what im aiming for
If this is the only way please correct me
