Using Fusion to comp green screen interviews

PostSun Jul 09, 2017 5:50 pm

Can some kind person direct me to any/all video or text tutorials detailing how to use Fusion to comp a static BG into a static talking-head green screen interview? I looked and looked, but all the tutorials I've found are much more detailed and usually concern other more complex green screen types of shots. No tracking is required of course for these types of shots.

I used Resolve 12.5 to do the comps on my last project which basically got me to about a 95% accuracy with green spill etc. I believe I need to master this process in Fusion in order to get to 100% perfection which is usually what clients insist on don'tcha know.

I've seen this video and it's way too complex for what I want and need to do - simple removal of green screen background and placement of new background with no green spill.

I'm an old Ultimatte guy - analog as well as digital. We could use that plug in in many older NLE programs and it was basically one-click spill removal. Now that BM owns Ultimatte, where/when is this feature going to appear?

This YT video
seems to be about the best I can find, & his next video shows how to import a new background into the cleaned up foreground.

Primatte is included with Fusion (Studio at least, dunno about free), which offers a spill removal. The included keyers have a spill removal in the Image Tab.

The Matte Control (Mat) tool has spill removal as well. I much prefer the control afforded by the independent spill remove, but to each his own.
