Fusion Connect from DaVinci downsizing media

PostSun Jul 09, 2017 9:00 pm

Hello,

I'm just starting to work with Fusion Connect from Resolve. I'm using (free) version 8.2.1, and while the Fusion Connect functionality seems to work, it's downsizing all my 4k source media to 1920x1080 in Fusion.

I'm using the defaults when creating the Connect link (Format: DPX, Bit Depth: 10). Is this:

    A limitation in Fusion?
A limitation in the free version?
    Because I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Is your resolve timeline set to 1920x1080 when creating the fusion connect clip ? It creates new media and will create it based on you timeline settings, including any color nodes, color space, sizing etc you have applied.
Alternatively , maybe because resolve free can not render in 4k, which will then also apply to generating the fusion connect render clips.

Glenn,

You nailed it. My Resolve timeline was set at the resolution that was being sent to Fusion. My confusion came from the fact that I I expected my Resolve timeline to match my source media resolution. In my case, my media was 4k, but my timeline was set to 1920. I'm now wondering what other issues this may have caused.

Thanks for the tip.

Top. A simple reminder for me is that just before I render the FC clip, disable anything that you do not want burned in to the clip. Afterwards you enable it again.

And your proxy mode affects Fusion Connect also.

For example, if your Timeline is set to 1920x1080 and your proxy mode is set "half" the Fusion Connect Clip will render at 960x540.
