Dongle not recognized on MacBook Pro

The dongle doesn't seem to be recognized using any of the adapters for the new MacBook Pro. Has anyone made it work? I'm assuming since the dongle can't be directly connected to the machine, that the license authentication is not seeing it properly, but this is pretty frustrating to say the least.
Would love to get some tips in case you're run into this problem.
