Fusion 9 camera tracker too slow?

PostThu Aug 03, 2017 7:14 pm

watch this video of Fusion 9 camera tracker solve for simple camera for 165 frames.
I can understand 2D track take sometime to finished, but the solving part
Fusion took 2-3 mins to solve. That's seriously slow.
I bet Syntheyes or NukeX can click "solve" and the camera solution will pop up in 3 seconds
I hope BMD can make it faster on next release.

As it was explained to me, the Auto Select Seed Frames is the part that's too slow at the moment. They're working on optimizing it, but for the time being, selecting the seed frames yourself speeds things up tremendously. You want frames that are far enough apart to show significant parallax change but that still have a good number of trackers in common.

Once the seed frames are selected, the rest of the solve happens much more quickly. You can actually see that in Vito's console window, where it says Select Seed Frames took 2m 1.04s.

I hope they get it sorted out relatively quickly since Auto Select is on by default.

I tested new CameraTracker for 100 frames. A slightly more complicated scene than Vito, but solving time is 5 ~ 15 seconds in my case. Very fast and robust. This is auto tracker. I can only do filtering error tracks. I do not know what happens in the case of more complex scenes. But I like it for now.

Thank you!!

So the time wasn't so bad for others. That mean the auto select seed frame is not very consistency?
Something to be improve, then.
I hope Vito figure out why his comp took so long to solve

Same issue is happen here.

By my quick study;
- I tried to solve camera with 360frame length footage, it had taken around 7min.
- However If I used only 100 frames from that footage, it had been finished less than 20sec.

Depends on memory usage? Not sure, just guess so...

Cheers,

Hiroshi
