One shake transformation applied to multiple elements

PostSat Aug 05, 2017 8:15 pm

Is it possible to create a single transform and animate the center position using shake, but attach that to multiple elements all passing different values to the shake's seed field to get different unique shaking animations?

Yep! Just right-click the control you want to copy the animation onto, and choose Connect To >
You should see a list of channels appropriate for the connection appear. Choose the one you want.

Is there a way to change the seed value of the shake transform so all items connected don't shake exactly the same way? I want it to look more like chaos and less like a dancing chorus line.

Using the method I described above applies the same instance of the Modifier to each control. If you want a different seed, you'll need to do Add Modifier on each node then copy and paste the settings. In the Modifiers tab, right-click the name of the Modifier you want to copy from and choose "Copy." Select the tool you want to copy those settings to, right-click the name of the Modifier, and "Paste Settings."

If the tools are otherwise identical, you could also simply copy and paste the entire node, then change the Seed value in the copy.
