Lens Flares?

PostFri Apr 05, 2019 4:12 am

Are there any Fuses that work like real flares?
The only non-fusion plugin I know that looks pretty good is optical flares from video copilot.

Are there any similar fuses for Fusion?

Thank you so much for any little hints!
cheers

There is a collection of Lens Flare macros using standard Fusion tools created by pingking (whose real name escapes me at the moment). Those are here: https://gum.co/FuFlares

And Sapphire OFX works in Fusion.

I think June Yu was working on either a plug-in or a Fuse, but I don't know if it has been released.

And nice though Pingking and June's stuff is you have to do a lot of work to get something approaching the look of Optical Flares, I'm afraid.

Way back in 2010 there was activity on the video copilot sight about fusion integration, but it sort of faded away around 2013.

Hotspot tool is another option, but, as mentioned earlier by JP Docherty, not on the same level as Optical Flares.

Ignite Express has a "Light Flares" OFX plugin with a version that works in Resolve - haven't checked to see if it works in standalone Fusion Studio, but it's free and potentially worth a try:

Hi June,

I am not sure why you post, for years, screenshots of a plugin not even
available on your Chinese website which, btw, primarily contains links to
pirated software.

The Gumroad page says it's for Fusion 9, free or Studio - is it supported for the latest - 16.2 I think?

Since OpenCL was deprecated in v16, it's not currently possible to run the flares there. I'm not sure if June's working on converting the tools to DCTL or not, but at least there's been some movement in the community on learning how the new language works, so I'm hopeful.

For the time being, though, Optical Flares, Fractal Noise, and the couple of other fuses June Yu has made are available only for Fusion 9.

LFTools works great. Remember to put a SetDomain after the Tool Flow to cache it otherwise it will always render on playback. Bought the presets and have used them on production work. The only downside so far is that you can't use more than one Lensflare Flow per comp. Since this is a macro set and not a plug in, it creates a bunch of hidden nodes. Unfortunately when you make a new set there are name conflicts and it ends up erroring out. But it does work really well and the looks are more natural. I just ended up making bmp icons and adding the Tools as Macros in the Bin. So the presets work the same way as the original Lens Flare presets that come with Fusion.

On that note. Does anyone know how to get the Bin in ReFusion?
